An older Planet Ocean
Omega issued this Planet Ocean in 2009 and limited it to 1,948 pieces, the year the first Seamaster came out. It is named after Liquidmetal, the alloy Omega used for the bezel numbers. The dial layout is the earlier Planet Ocean one: broad hands, numerals at 12, 6 and 9, and red only on the Seamaster line and the tip of the seconds hand.
42 mm instead of 45.5 mm
Most Planet Ocean models in our shop are 45.5 mm and suit wrists over 19 cm. At 42 mm this one fits the 16.5 to 19 cm range of our size guide, the same size as a Diver 300M.
Crown, valve and water
The crown at 3 o’clock screws down, and the second crown at 10 o’clock is the helium valve of the Planet Ocean design. Our water guide counts the Planet Ocean among the models that can go in the water with the crown closed. Take it off for the sauna and for dives with tanks.
Next to it in the range
The Planet Ocean America’s Cup 215.32.43.21.04.001 is another limited edition, at 43.5 mm. Our Planet Ocean guide compares the rest.
